Touch a truck photo page

The touch a truck saga continues with the photo page design. I really enjoyed this story because I really took control of it, which led me to designing the photo page.

Gateway Plaza print edit

The Gateway plaza photo page was my favorite design that I contributed to. The page designer basically gave me free rain to place the photos wherever I wanted, so I tried to make it unique while as aesthetically pleasing as possible. I faced some challenges with the photos looking some what similar, leading us to discuss if adding all of the photos was necessary. I decided that it was for the best and tried to organize them to where photos didn't look repetitive. That's what I believe we did.

Touch-a-Truck rolls back into Columbia — quietly

Touch-a-Truck was another difficult photo edit for me. The obstacles started with the selection process. I was the odd man out with many of the photos I chose among my editors, leading us to spend a lot of our time talking through a handful of photos. Even though we disagreed, all of our conversations were progressive and focused on selecting the best photos. We finally came to that conclusion and realized that the photographer could not get the names of most of the people at the event. So, I basically had to do a whole new edit, which was challenging. However, I am confident that I overcame those restrictions with the ones that I picked. This edit forced me to be resourceful and for that, I had to include it.

Verdict in snake dealer's murder case is in the hands of the jury

The Renick trial was the most prominent and challenging edit that I did during my time with the Missourian. The lighting in the court room was very strange, which also affected the colors in weird way. Having said that I toned each photo three different times until I felt content with each. I am really proud of the result. This edit was a great measuring stick of how far I have come as a photo editor.

Sights from state: The ultimate showdown

During most of the FNS's, I mostly worked on video, and would fill in photo editing whenever I was needed. Because we didn't do a video that week, I was in full photo editing mode for one of the more important FNS's (state championship). The major ways in which I contributed to this edit was creating the long form, writing the headline and description, in addition to toning some photos. I am really happy how it turned out with it being my first long form design and love the photos that we chose.

Demonstrators oppose vaccine and mask mandates at Capitol

I can definitely say that this was my first major photo edit given the gravity of the story. I can recall feeling more pressure than I have ever felt before to pick the right photos. That being said, I am really proud of the photos that I chose. The edit featured a lot of variety that I felt told story effectively, along with being quality photos.
