Pieces of My Career
Everything and Moore
My first YouTube project that was fueled by passion and curiosity. I explored how important the Chicago Bears addition of DJ Moore was in unlocking a 3rd year leap from Justin Fields. I edited, scripted, narrated and created all of the graphs for this project.
From the sidelines: An unforgettable season
The recap of FNS was by far my favorite solo video editing piece. Not only was it a blast to go through all of the footage we accumulated over the season, but it was the least restricted I was because the wide variety of clips I had to chose from. I made a deliberate effort to include all of the characters that we covered, along with the all of the awesome fans that were at each school. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
Where two become eight
My co-video editor, Paola Rodriguez and I collaborated on a handful of videos during our time at the Missourian. However, due to timing of the publishing, we weren't really able to edit the "Where two becomes eight" documentary together. That said, I served sort of a different role. For example I focused on helping the videographers make contacts, tagging clips, going through the transcripts of the interview to find what quotes we want to use, etc. I really aimed to make the editing process as smooth as possible, so neither of us had to look through hours of footage when it came time to edit and I feel good about the work I put in.

Pieces of My Career
From the sidelines: The Kewpie
Like mentioned previously, Paola and I collaborated many times on videos. Look no further than "The Kewpie," my personal favorite of our videos. We were trying to nail down this video from the moment that we started at the Missourian but couldn't because the Kewpie Mascot had stepped down from Hickman High School's cheer team. Luckily, the Kewpie made a return towards the end of the season and we jumped on the opportunity the moment we could. I am so glad things happened the way they did because the chemistry between Paola and I had grown so much from when we started. Multiple video editors can sometimes be a too many chefs in the kitchen type of situation but that was not the case. Our perspectives complimented one another, and this video is living proof.
Between the pinstripes: The referee
Between the pinstripes was one of my most enjoyable edits. It took some panning on how we were going to pull it off. I had to reach out to all of the schools to see get their referees information, so we would know who to talk to. Once we got the approval, I walked through interview questions with the videographer, Nevin Dubinski. I envisioned a mic'd up NFL films style for this video and it sounded like Paola had something similar in mind. That said, we directed Nevin to see if the ref would let us mic him up and fortunately he was more than happy too. I really feel like that made this video unique because not only do refs not get covered but they rarely get mic'd up beyond their calls. Nevin shot some awesome footage while also obtaining some really quality audio. Paola and I took turns editing and Between the pinstripes was born.
